MW4 DMZ Exfil Guide: Heli, Fulton & Flare

Exfil sites open from a random pool and are marked with green smoke. Call the Twin Heli Exfil and hold the site until it lands, or use a Fulton balloon or a Flare. Expect campers. Fail to exfil and you lose everything outside your Secure Slots.

How exfil works

  • Exfil sites are picked from a pool of locations and marked by a plume of green smoke.
  • Call in the Twin Heli Exfil, then hold the site while enemy pressure builds until the helicopter lands. Board it to finish the deployment.
  • Other ways out: a Fulton balloon or a Flare. Exfil flares are very loud and can be seen from far away.
  • Other squads often wait at exfils to ambush. Arrive ready for a fight.
  • The "Time Remaining" timer shows when the radiation storm gets worse. Find an exfil before it does.

How long is a run?

Reported: a quick run can take around 10 minutes, while staying until the final exfil can take 40 minutes or more.

Traits that help

  • Die Hard (Survivalist): while you are in Last Stand, getting close to an exfil calls it automatically, and you don't bleed out. See Traits.
  • Expedited Extraction (Survivalist, Minor, reported): exfils arrive faster.

Carrying a Lieutenant's Dog Tag Case

Picking up a Lieutenant's Dog Tag Case broadcasts your position to everyone. Head for the nearest exfil straight away.

If you fail to exfil

  • Everything not in a Secure Slot is lost. The Basic Pack has no Secure Slots; a Medium Backpack and better ones do.
  • The DMZ XP you earned still counts.
  • Your Operator goes MIA. Pay DMZ Cash to recover them with their traits (the price rises with their trait count), but not their gear. You can also dismiss them and start fresh.

The Vault Edition Deployment Kit includes two Fulton Drop Markers. How they work in a match will be added after launch.

How do you exfil in MW4 DMZ?

Go to an active exfil marked with green smoke, call the Twin Heli Exfil and hold the site until it lands. You can also use a Fulton balloon or a Flare.

What do you lose if you die in DMZ?

Everything that isn't in a Secure Slot. Your XP still counts, and your Operator goes MIA until you pay to recover them.

Do you keep XP if you fail to exfil?

Yes. DMZ XP earned during the deployment counts even if you don't make it out.

How does Die Hard work?

While you are in Last Stand, getting close to an exfil calls it for you, and you have unlimited bleed-out time.
